Happy

April 22, 2016 Andrew Kubala

What I’m about to say might seem crazy but I’m going to say it anyway. It’s time to get happy, even a little bit if that’s all you can manage.

I love the song Happy by Pharrell Williams. The reason I think this song I so popular is because there are so many pressures in the world that bog us down. Family, work, finances are constantly commanding our attention but this song is a great reminder that we can be happy. Regardless of circumstance our cup will always either half empty or half full and how we see it is a matter of perspective.

The other day Janine and I were feeling the pressure of being away from each other. Things were a little tense and everyone was feeling it. Over dinner our 12yr old decided he was going to do some impersonations and we found ourselves laughing out loud. Tensions dispelled and we were able to enjoy the time together as a family. This reminds me of Proverbs 17:22 “A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing”. Our mood at any given time affects our environment and everyone around us. I discovered that day we can choose to remain camped in that unhappy place or move on. Happiness is a state of mind that we can put on. Then what begins as a conscious choice shifts us and becomes our new place of abode.

Four things that jump to mind that keep me happy are; surrounding myself with positive people, my devotion to God, listening to positive music and messages, and looking for someone who needs a smile and give it to them. No one needs a smile more that the person who has none to give.

So, go on a smile hunt and be happy!
