Have you ever looked at an old car and saw potential? It’s amazing what a bit of paint and some polish can do. I often think that life is a little bit like that, things can be a bit run down, a few dents have occurred here and there but deep down there is still a lot of potential.
There are numerous television shows, like the show ‘Extreme Makeover’ that takes people that seem like they have had bad luck or have made some bad choices and give them a complete makeover.
I always get amazed at the before and after shots when you see the end result. One thing the show doesn’t talk about is the internal transformation. Just because the outside may look different, if the inside is not different it’s just not going to work. A lick of paint on a car may make the car look smick, but if the engine is not working then it is not going anywhere.
There is a verse in the bible that says we are transformed by renewing of our mind. It’s talking about an inward transformation. I believe this comes from what you feed your mind with and what you confess around your world. I personally read the bible everyday as I believe the words that come from this book bring wisdom, faith and help me continue my relationship with God. It helps me have daily restoration. Having positive people around my life and speaking words that build, keep this transformation alive. I would encourage you to not just look at the outward exterior but look at the inward as well.
